Because I haven't written a journal in forever (does anyone read this anyway lol)?
I failed Discrete Events Simulation last semester, so I have to push my Senior Design Project to next year... so I will be graduating a year late. While my parents weren't pleased to hear the news, they at least didn't overreact. They are, however, kind of being a pain about my fifth year because no matter how many times I tell them that I don't have enough semesters to add another minor (already minoring in math), they still want me to do another minor. I wish they'd listen to me more, especially when I'm telling them straight facts.
... wow, DA has some pretty cool smilies. ... not that I picked the "gloomy" smilie just because it looked awesome.....
I'm only taking 12 credit hours this semester. While I still have a surprisingly large amount of work, I at least have some more spare time to do art (as you can tell from the increase in my deviation submission rate). I tried to get an on-campus job so I can add more to my fifth year fund (my parents pay for school, but I really want to pay for as much as I can for my fifth year since I was the one who fucked things up by failing a class), but no such luck. My roommate told me that even dining services had to lay off people to keep costs down.
One thing I've been trying to do is make sculpey magnets and sell them to the masses on pkmncollectors (a livejournal community). No luck with that, either. It has sort of made me reevaluate my art... I suppose there are two possibilities: a) My art really blows or b) No one wants to spend money right now. (I suspect the former is more likely since people are definitely still buying a lot of things on the community.) Maybe if I got more traffic on DA... DA has much more people on it, so I'm sure SOMEONE out there likes my stuff. The problem is then how to get publicity. I've had my DA account for at least 5 years now, and still less than 4,000 pageviews. ~sigh~ Dilemma.
More positive things. Japan was awesome, to say the least. To quote one of my friends who went a few weeks after I did, "It's like being on speed 24/7!" My favorites out of all the places I visited were Osaka Aquarium (PENGUINS), Harajuku (caters to the cosplay/goth/visual kei people, also had an excellent dessert buffet), and a hot spring place near my uncle's. I've been craving the food nonstop since I left Japan.
